Jacqueline Mae Mayo, 92, passed away June 28, 2023, at home in Coeur d'Alene with her loving husband and family by her side. Jacquie was a breast cancer survivor and lived with Alzheimer's in her final six years.
Jacquie was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Boise, Idaho, to the late Jack and Leola (Getslow) Latta. She graduated from Boise High School and went directly into the Catholic Nun Nursing Program, where she received her RN degree and worked as a nurse while raising her family.
She married Kenneth Mayo on Sept. 29, 1960. Together they raised their four children, Cindy, Jack, Deb and Doug.
Jacquie was awarded CASA Volunteer of the Year in 2002 (A powerful voice in the lives of abused and neglected children). She was a volunteer nurse at Kootenai Health as a Nightingale (Nobody Dies Alone). In 2012, Jacquie was elected Precinct No. 39 Kootenai County committeeman for the Republican party.
Jacquie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Mayo; brother Nile Latta (Christie); daughter Cindy (Jeff) Brown; son Jack Mayo; daughter Deb (John) Mayo; and son Douglas (Jody) Mayo; six grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Zack, Matthew, Channing, Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Eli, Woodrow, Denzel; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Remembrances may be made in donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of North Idaho in Jacquie's name.
