Michael 'Mike' Douglas Mayo, 40
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 year, 9 months AGO
Michael Douglas Mayo, 40, passed away at Kootenai Health on July 14, 2023, with his loving family by his side after a long illness.
Mike was born Sept. 19, 1982, in Boise, Idaho, to Douglas and Jody Mayo. Mike was the oldest of our three sons.
The family moved from Boise to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1986 and then relocated back to Idaho in 1999 to live on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Mike graduated from Lake City High School in 2001, where he lettered in debate. Mike then went on to attend Seattle Art Institute, where he graduated in multimedia and web design in June 2003.
Mike spent the next several years working in the multimedia and web design industries in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Boise. He later moved back to Coeur d'Alene to work in the family businesses. He was loved by all who were privileged enough to get to know him in his short life. Mike was a lover of all animals, but all bulldogs and boxers had a very special place in Mike's heart. Mike will be greatly missed by his friends and family and "boxer" Roxie who Mike loved with all his heart.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grant and Vivian Darling; his aunt and uncle, Louie and Sandy Bunce; sister-in-law Trisha Mayo; and, most recently, his grandmother, Jacqueline Mayo on June 28, 2023.
Mike is survived by his parents, Douglas and Jody Mayo; brothers Matthew Mayo (Alaina) and Thomas Mayo (Mariya); and grandfather Kenneth Mayo; niece Madison; nephew Konner and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike's request was no funeral but rather a celebration of life, which we hope all will do as we all grieve our loss of Mike.
The family asks that remembrances may be made in donations to Kootenai Human Society http://www.kootenaihumansociety.com in Mike's Name.
Arrangements are provided by Yates Funeral Home. Online registry and condolences may be found at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
