MOSES LAKE – Moses Lake High School alumna Joelee Green-Cerrillo will move on to play soccer at Columbia Basin College this fall, achieving her dream of playing at the college level.
“I’m really excited,” Green-Cerrillo said. “I’ve always wanted to play collegiate soccer, and now I finally got my chance to. They talked to me at one of my soccer tournaments this past summer.”
Having played soccer since she was 4 years old, Green-Cerrillo was spurred to play in her youth by a family interest in the sport.
“My older sisters and cousins have always played, so it’s always been around,” Green-Cerrillo said. “I tried one time and liked it, so I just kept playing.”
Throughout her years of playing, Green-Cerrillo had played both center back and forward.
“My coach told me that I would be good in those places I tried,” Green-Cerrillo. “I’ve always played there.”
She said her favorite moments from her high school career were the players she met on the field, and the top moments from travel ball were winning two state titles with Endeavour Soccer Academy in 2016 and 2018.
Columbia Basin posted a record of 15-2-1 in the 2022 season, reaching the Northwest Athletic Conference Final Four.
“Meeting new people,” Green-Cerrillo said. “I’ve consistently, my whole life, played with the same soccer team, so I’m excited to play with new people.”
