SPOKANE – The Bulldogs agreed to a home-and-home series against San Diego State, the 2023 NCAA Tournament’s runner-up, according to a release by Gonzaga Athletics on Wednesday.

The first game, hosted on Dec. 29 at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, will be the fifth time the schools have faced off on the court. A date for the matchup in the 2024-25 season hasn’t been set, but the Zags will travel to the Viejas Arena in San Diego.

Gonzaga won the first meeting in 1959, a 72-69 win over the Aztecs in the City of Roses Tournament in Portland. SDSU won the second matchup 79-76 in Spokane in 2010, and Gonzaga won the third game 69-48 in Spokane in 2016. The Aztecs won the most recent meeting, a 72-70 win in the 2017-18 season in San Diego.

SDSU finished 32-7 last season with an appearance in the national championship game against UConn.

Moses Lake enters districts with confidence as regular season fades

MOSES LAKE – The Mavericks closed out the regular season with a trip to Sunnyside on Thursday night, coming out on top of a closely contested game with a 67-66 win over the Grizzlies. “They’ve been playing better, scoring more,” Head Coach Craig Groth said. “We’ve been doing a little bit better job on defense in certain situations and winning games leading up to that. Even games we haven’t won, we’ve been in really close games. Our confidence is really good right now, we felt great going into the game.”
