50th Anniversary

Rod and Cindy Lou (Carroll) Schobert this month are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their June 23, 1973, marriage.

We met on a blind date when Cindy Lou Carroll was completing her freshman year at Western Illinois University and Rod was a graduating senior. We dated until her graduation and then got married. Early on we both knew that our desire was to live in the mountain west and the firm for whom Rod worked 34-plus years approved the move and we landed at Hayden Lake 46 years ago! All three children, Chad, Rebecca Dawn and Travis, were delivered at Kootenai Memorial Hospital by Dr. Jon Cutting.

After some moving around, all three children and their families now live within an hour of Hayden Lake!

The children grew up visiting Cindy Lou’s aunt and uncle’s Ennis, Mont., ranch, plus taking numerous forays into Glacier and Yellowstone national parks.

The picture was taken in Cong, Ireland, on an April trip commemorating our 50 years of marriage.
