KELLOGG –– This weekend is the annual Kegs and Kickstands ride and organizers are excited for another successful event.

“Kegs and Kickstands is a Silver Valley Chamber-sponsored event in which participants tour Kellogg on their bikes, stopping at Chamber member businesses as they ride,” Chamber coordinator Becca Holehan explained. “At the final destination, riders have the chance to win

prizes for checking off each business on the route.”

In years past, the participants would begin their tour of Kellogg at the Silver Mountain Resort each rider is given a ‘goodie bag’ containing different items as well as a map that directed them to the different businesses in town. The goal was to then ride to each of the listed businesses on the map and get their map signed off by whoever was there to greet them.

Each business that gets put on the map as one of the stops offers its own little prize – whether it be something simple like a free snack or beverage, a small prize, or even solid discounts on their products for that day or in the future.

Riders who complete every stop on the map can enter into a raffle at the final stop – the winners of these raffles walk away with larger prizes, including gift certificates, clothing, riding gear, drinks, and other cool swag provided by Chamber members.

“Kegs and Kickstands is a way to benefit Chamber members,” event organizer Sarah Murphy said. “It’s a way we get people in their door that may not normally know what they do.”

This year’s event is being held on the same weekend as the North American Enduro Cup races at Silver Mountain, which means that the city will have more than a few extra people staying in it for the weekend.

“With 400 racers registered already, we anticipate over 800 extra people in town that weekend and are hoping to give family members another option for activity,” Holehan said.

Kegs and Kickstands is Saturday, June 17, at 2 p.m. – Registration is right before the event begins at the Silver Valley Chamber Office located at 10 E. Station Avenue in Kellogg.
