LEGION BASEBALL: Northern Lakes drops league game in extras

COTTONWOOD — The visiting Northern Lakes Mountaineers scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning, but gave up seven runs in the bottom half and fell 10-9 to the Camas Prairie Zephyrs in the first game, a Class A North Idaho League game, Tuesday at Prairie High.

Tadhg Ellwood delivered a two-out RBI single in the seventh to tie the game at 3-3 for Northern Lakes (4-2, 2-2 NIL).

Northern Lakes took advantage of 11 walks in the nightcap to beat Camas Prairie 19-3 in the second game, a nonleague game. Kenny Wells had three RBIs and two runs scored in the nightcap for the Mountaineers. Five other players drove in two runs each for Northern Lakes.

Northern Lakes will compete in the Howard Rein A Invitational in Billings, Mont., a tourney which begins Thursday. The Mountaineers don't open play until Friday, when they face the Missoula Mavericks and Helena Reps.
