Watkins, Dykes named first-team all-Idaho in softball

Taci Watkins of St. Maries and Allilah Dykes of Timberlake were named to the first team in 2A and 3A, respectively, as the all-Idaho softball teams were announced Thursday by The Idaho Statesman newspaper of Boise.
Watkins, a senior, was 18-6 with an 0.78 ERA and 321 strikeouts for the Lumberjacks, and made the first team for second straight year.
Dykes, a junior outfielder and leadoff hitter, batted .423 with 37 runs and 16 stolen bases for the Tigers.
Senior pitcher Kristine Schmidt of Coeur d’Alene and freshman infielder KaeLee Kolden of Lake City were named to the 5A second team.
Timberlake junior pitcher Acacia Pecor and Bonners Ferry junior outfielder Ava Frederickson were named to the 3A second team.
Grangeville junior pitcher Mattie Thacker and Orofino sophomore catcher Rilee Diffin were named to the the 2A second team.
Coaches statewide vote on the all-Idaho teams. The Statesman publishes the results.
