Manzardo to play in Futures Game

The Tampa Bay Rays visit Seattle on Friday to play the Mariners in a three-game-series.

One of the Rays’ top prospects — and a local standout to boot — is scheduled to play in Seattle one week later.

First baseman Kyle Manzardo, the former Lake City High and Washington State star, was selected to play in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, scheduled for Saturday, July 8 at 4 p.m. PDT at T-Mobile Park.

The seven-inning game will air on Peacock and SiriusXM.

Manzardo, a second-round draft choice of the Rays in 2021 and the 63rd overall pick, is batting .245 with 10 home runs and 34 RBIs for the Triple-A Durham (N.C.) Bulls.

The Seattle Mariners had two players selected for the Futures Game — catcher Harry Ford, currently playing at High-A Everett, and outfielder Jonatan Clase, who is playing with Double-A Arkansas.
