Constance J. Carns was born Constance J. Cullinane on a farm in Van Buren County, Lawrence Township, Mich., in the same farmhouse where her father was born. She was married in 1951 to Robert J. Carns. They had three children, Vera, Julie and Matthew. She worked and raised her children in Salinas, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her sister, Jean Connor.

In retirement, she and Bob moved to St. Maries, Idaho, and built and lived in a log cabin 12 miles out of town. She enjoyed reading, gardening and camping (and playing Yahtzee) with her family. She also enjoyed puttering in the kitchen with a glass of wine. (Yes, she did!!!)

Connie loved to travel. Some of her favorite trips included visiting Italy, Ireland and Rome. She enjoyed cruises to Curacao, Jamaica, Hawaii, Mexico and through the Panama Canal. She and her sister, Jean, were great travel partners and they tried to meet annually at the family farmhouse in Michigan.

In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She had a very big heart and was very giving. She had volunteered at the Lutheran Church of The Master on Sundays for their community meals. She also volunteered for many years at the Cd'A Library Bookstore. She also gave to many charities including St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was dearly loved by all and touched many lives with her kind nature. She will be missed.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements.
