Lavonne Lloyd, 88
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 year, 6 months AGO
Lavonne Bernelle (Ham) Lloyd, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died June 11, 2023, in Coeur d’Alene, just shy of her 89th birthday. Lavonne was born to Harold Guy Ham and Nina Mona May (Richey) Ham on June 14, 1934, in Council, Idaho. She graduated from Post Falls High School in 1952 and was valedictorian of her class.
Lavonne and Ted Lloyd were married in Coeur d’Alene for 70 years and raised four sons. Lavonne worked for the Coeur d’Alene Job Service for several years and, in retirement, she and Ted enjoyed the snowbird life in St. George, Utah, and Lake Havasu, Ariz. Lavonne loved seeing the world and traveled with Ted to Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and Alaska. She enjoyed music, golf, her garden and flowers, cheeseburgers, chocolate and her cats.
“Grandma Lloyd” loved to cook for the family (especially her cookies and legendary three-bean, potato, and macaroni salads) and always had a matching set of Christmas gifts/pajamas for the grandkids! She and Ted were present at all family occasions, including graduations, weddings or meeting the newest great-grandchild. Grandma had a card in the mail for every birthday or life event as well. She loved family photos and made scrapbooks full of happy memories for everyone.
Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Tim. She is survived by her husband, Ted of Coeur d’Alene; her children, Don Lloyd of Kalispell, Mont., Kelly Lloyd of Missoula, Mont., and Rick Lloyd of Spokane, Wash.; as well as eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Lavonne was laid to rest June 24, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. Memorial contributions in Lavonne’s honor can be made to Hospice of North Idaho (www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org) or the charity of your choice. You may express condolences at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
