Early Friday morning, a fire destroyed a home on Armory Road in Whitefish. The residents were able to get out of the double wide trailer safely but the fire left a young family displaced.

Whitefish Fire Department crews were called to the fire at 5:15 a.m. and were on the scene until 10:30 a.m. The department’s C shift initially responded to the call and A shift came in to take over.

The cause of the fire is unknown but Whitefish Acting Fire Chief Travis Tveidt said it may have started on the deck outside.

Crews from Big Mountain Fire and Rescue, Columbia Falls Fire Department, Evergreen Fire Rescue and West Valley Fire and Rescue provided assistance with keeping the fire contained.

The family had three young children and lost everything in the fire. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established by neighbors for Will Doebler and his family. The fundraising page states the funds will help with housing and rent, bills, groceries and everything in between.

“Will and his family are very thankful to all those who have donated so far. They are trying their best to keep spirits up as they navigate through this difficult time,” the GoFundMe page states. As of Monday afternoon the page had a $10,000 fundraising goal and about $1,500 had been raised so far.
