YOUTH SOCCER: Thorns 07 remain in hunt for title game

U19 SUPER GROUP
Georgia Whitehead, the Washington State signee, had two goals and an assist for the Thorns 2004/05 girls in a 6-0 win over the Monterey Surf Club on Wednesday to improve to 1-1 in pool play at the Developmental Premier League national finals on Wednesday at Voice of America Athletic Complex in Cincinnati.
Ella Morton also had two goals for the Thorns, who also had goals from Idaho bound Mackenzie Goings and Remi Menier.
The Thorns are currently second in their group and will conclude pool play on Friday against CT Rush.
Only the winning team of each of the three groups, along with a wildcard team, advance to Saturday’s semifinal round.
U16 CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP
The Thorns 07 girls improved to 1-0-1 at the Developmental Premier League national finals with a 0-0 draw against Florida United on Wednesday at the Voice of America Athletic Complex in Cincinnati.
After a day off today, the Thorns will conclude group play against the Rhode Island Surf on Friday.
The Thorns and Surf lead the group, with the top two teams advancing to Saturday’s championship match.
