Kootenai County city summer celebrations

Summer in the Pacific Northwest is the time to be outside, and July is a time for patriotism. To revel in the beautiful weather and bring the community together, cities in Kootenai County host parades, vendor events, markets and festivals to reach residents. Below are the city summer events for civic pride:

• Bayview Daze | July 1-3 and July 4 at the Bayview Marina, 18354 Highway 54, Bayview. Vendors will fill the Marina and Main through the weekend with festivities and celebrations. The Just Plain Fun parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with an awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m. The city famous fireworks show starts around dark, and is supported solely by individual donations. The Bayview Chamber of Commerce is accepting donations for next year’s show.

The Bayview Chamber will also provide a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. July 4 in the Bayview Community Center, 20298 E. Perimeter Road.

• Post Falls Festival | 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 7-8, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9, Q’emiln Park, 12201 W. Parkway Drive, Post Falls. The city will kick off the weekend with giant trike and sprint races, a parade, a car show, live music, a free movie in the park, craft vendors and a beer garden. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday along Seltice Way between Frederick and Idaho streets.

The vendor application deadline is June 23.

• Rathdrum Days | July 21 at Majestic Park, and July 22 at Lakeland High School. The Chamber collaborated with Seright’s Ace Hardware to bring music, beer, bounce houses, car shows and fun zones to community spaces and a parade to Main Street. Saturday will have vendors for food and crafts, McDonald's Big Wheel Races, a Doggie Dash, a car show and continuous entertainment on the Main Stage throughout the day. The red, white and blue themed parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The deadline to submit a parade application is July 14.

• Hayden Days | July 28-29 at McIntire Family Park, 8930 N. Government Way, Hayden. Parents can sip brews from the Hayden Senior Center beer garden while the Kelly Hughes Band plays on the grandstand and vendors line the park. A pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. will precede the parade at the Northern Lakes Fire Station, 125 Hayden Ave., Hayden. The Hometown Heroes parade at 10 a.m. July 29 on Government Way will precede the Hayden’s Got Talent performance, and a car show.

The deadline to submit a vendor application is June 30. The deadline to submit a parade application is July 24.

• Harrison Old Time Picnic | July 28-30 Harrison Park, 111 Harrison Road, Harrison.

Harrison hosts a family and friend reunion, complete with parade and family-friendly old-fashioned games such as sack race, baby crawling contest and a greased pole climb. Ladies compete in a nail driving contest and men in an obstacle contest. Dinner will start Friday in the Hall at Harrison Grange, where the king and queen will be coronated. Breakfast will be Sunday, in the city park 7:30-10 a.m., followed by the parade at 11 a.m. Lunch will trail the parade in the park.

• Athol Daze | Aug. 12 Athol City Park, 30355 N. Third St., Athol. The parade will start promptly at 9 a.m. followed by a car show, drag mower races, bed races and money in the straw. Over 45 vendors will also be on site in a city market with food, beer gardens and music.

The deadline to submit vendor applications is Aug. 1.

Deadlines are fast approaching to submit vendor applications or parade applications for city festivals. Visit the city or chamber of commerce websites to request an application.
