KRCC settles into new spot

Kootenai Recovery Community Center moved from Third Street on Wednesday to its new building located at 120 E. Anton Ave., Coeur d’Alene. An official open house is tentatively scheduled for the first week of April.

“This is an exciting move for the center,” said Josh Ericson, interim director of Kootenai Recovery Community Center. “The larger building and meeting rooms will enable us to comfortably accommodate the increased need for recovery support services that our community is experiencing.”

The challenges of living with substance use and mental health disorders are affecting more community members than ever.

“While North Idaho has seen a recent increase in drug-related overdoses, Kootenai County has already doubled the number of fentanyl overdose deaths from 2021.

"Additionally, suicide is one of the leading causes of death in Idaho, and the state continually ranks among the top 10 states for the highest number of suicide deaths per capita.

Often, the stigma and shame surrounding behavioral health issues can be just as deadly as the disease causing individuals to isolate or resist getting the support they need.

The new location supports KRCC's mission to reduce barriers to recovery by providing free peer-based support. Fueled by the energy of staff and volunteers, most in recovery themselves, the community center now has a larger space to provide a positive, welcoming and supportive environment where individuals can give and receive support. The new location offers an almost doubled meeting room capacity and the more centralized location offers easier access.
