NIC BASKETBALL: Cardinal men honored on all-region teams

North Idaho College sophomores Julius Mims and Taden King, as well as freshman Cobi Campbell were named to the Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball All-East Region team, the conference announced prior to the start of the conference tournaments in Pasco, Wash.
Mims, a 6-foot-9 forward from Billings, Mont., was also named the Defensive Player of the Year. Campbell, a 6-2 guard from Seattle was the Freshman of the Year.
NIC men's basketball coach Corey Symons was named East Region Coach of the Year.
Sophomore Xavier Bailey was named to the region's second team.
NIC (28-0) opens the men's conference tournament on Saturday against Bellevue (19-9) at 8 p.m.
Addie Kiefer, a 5-10 freshman guard/forward from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, was named to the women's second team for the East Region.
NIC (16-11) opens the women's conference championship tournament tonight at 6 against South Puget Sound (19-7).
Freshman guards Lexie Heath and Trinidie Nichols, both from Post Falls High, were named to the first team for Columbia Basin. Nichols was also named a co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Dylan Lovett, a redshirt freshman from Post Falls, was named to the second team and was also named a co-Defensive Player of the Year after her first season at Walla Walla.
Jaelyn Brainard, a sophomore from Coeur d'Alene High, was named to the all-defensive team for Blue Mountain in Pendleton, Ore.
