PREP BASEBALL: Errors cost Post Falls in first two at Buck's Bags

BOISE — Senior Langan Naylor came around to score on a leadoff single for Post Falls, which failed to score with the bases loaded in the first and third inning of a 4-1 loss to Middleton in the opening game of the Buck’s Bags Tournament at Borah High on Thursday.
“Middleton has been crushing teams and we played right with them,” Post Falls coach Kurt Reese said. “We just had a couple of mental mistakes and allowed them to get two runs. But the boys competed. It was an intense, good game.”
Senior Jayden Butler struck out three, but walked four for Post Falls against Middleton.
“For his first start of the year, he threw the ball really well,” Reese said. “But we learned a lot and have some things to work on. Middleton’s a solid, well-coached team.”
Against Borah, junior Gabe Diamond singled to score Jake Bustamante in the fourth inning, but the Lions were able to pull away with a six-run bottom of the fifth inning.
“Mentally, we were exhausted from that first game,” Reese said. “We made an error and then it snowballed into something we couldn’t get out of.”
Post Falls (1-2) plays at Timberline of Boise tonight.
