COEUR d'ALENE — A Post Falls man died following a crash Monday afternoon.

Wesley Coffey, 36, was operating a motorcycle when it collided with a vehicle at Prairie Avenue and Cornerstone Drive about 4 p.m., according to a press release from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.

First responders arrived within minutes and found Coffey unresponsive in the roadway and began lifesaving efforts, but he died at the scene, the release said.

Prairie Avenue was shut down for several hours from U.S. 95 to Mineral Drive.

An investigation continues, "but speed is believed to be a primary factor in addition to alcohol," the release said.

Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact the KCSO Traffic Unit, 208-446-1300, or at kcsotraffic@kcgov.us.
