Wanda was born in Las Vegas, Nev., on Aug. 31, 1936, to Frank and Bertha Henry and moved to her eternal address with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Feb. 10, 2023.

Wanda’s parents visited Vegas in 1930, went to western Washington state and then back to New Jersey. The family finally settled in Las Vegas after moving a few times between there and western Washington. After her birth, most of her days as a child and teen were lived in Vegas. Following her education, she worked as a telephone operator, helping support her family.

Wanda met John Filler, a naval friend of her brother in 1953. She and John were married Feb. 5, 1955, in Las Vegas, Nev., and moved to the Coeur d’Alene area, where they established their lives and had their three children, John Jr., Debra and Russell. A portion of their North Idaho life was living in Worley, Idaho, where John began his work with Co-op Supply (Cenex) and continues to this day.

Wanda worked for 25 years from 1977-2002, as a grocery checker at Albertson’s, starting on the corner of Fourth and Harrison, then building at it’s current location in Ironwood Square. She was known as the “Fastest checker in town!"

Wanda was an avid bowler at what was then The Cove Bowl in Coeur d’Alene. The teams that she played with traveled to several tournaments throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Wanda and John were members of the Assembly of God Church on 15th and Sherman Avenue, until the church moved to it’s current location in 1963.

In 1971, the two of them joined the pastor and congregation in planting a new church, currently Resolute Ministries on Ironwood Drive in Coeur d’Alene, in which Wanda and John have been members since. Their oldest son, John Jr and wife, Ruth were their pastors for 35 of those years.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 68 years, John, her children, John (Ruth), Debbie Uhlmann and Russ (Gina), six grandchildren, 20 grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and son-in-law, Rick Uhlmann.

A graveside memorial will be held Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Forest Cemetery, 1011 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
