Sandpoint boys lacrosse rout Logos in first game of the season

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | March 30, 2023 1:00 AM
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint boys varsity lacrosse defeated Logos School 15-2 in their first Idaho High School Lacrosse League conference game Tuesday at War Memorial Field.
The Bulldogs took an early lead over the Knights by scoring five goals in the first quarter. The Knights on the other hand were not able to produce much offense at all; they were shut out going into halftime. Sandpoint would continue to dominate every facet of the game until the final whistle.
“The boys played great last night. We are exactly where we want to be at this point in the season. The boys are learning how to play as a 10-man unit; the support the boys are giving each other shows when our clears are above 90%,” head coach TR Page said.
Gabriel Linck led in the scoring column with four goals; Blayne Kanning added three goals of his own. Maksym Page, Austin Waud and Owen Wimmer each contributed two goals to the scoreboard. Adding one goal each are Joseph Aexel and Gage McElroy.
Three players tied for face-off wins: Forest Ambridge, Joseph Aexel and Owen Wimmer.
Getting the win in the net for the Bulldogs was goalie Ryan Doko who accumulated three saves on the night.
On Wednesday, the boys won their second game of the season in a blowout versus Immaculate Conception Academy, 17-0, in Post Falls. Page said it was their best team game by far.
Sandpoint (2-0) will be in action versus Ammon and Idaho Falls on Saturday, April 15 at Fort Missoula Regional Park in Missoula, Montana.
“We are super excited to travel to Montana. That weekend has been circled in on the calendar for sure,” Page said.
