MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake High School FFA co-advisor Tony Kern, busy helping a customer, had a one-word reaction to the early Friday morning crowd at the annual FFA plant sale.
“Incredible,” Kern said.
The plant sale is an important fundraiser for the FFA chapter and the MLHS horticulture program, and the horticulture students and FFA members work to fill two greenhouses. The sale opened at 7 a.m. Friday, and by 8 a.m. the customers had made a sizable dent in the inventory. Ag teacher and FFA co-advisor Victoria Weber said the crowd was waiting when the doors opened,
“The line was all the way to the (MLHS) woodshop,” Weber said.
By 8 a.m. it was almost time to consolidate the merchandise in one greenhouse, she said.
Customers had their choice of a wide array of flowers and vegetables, and Kelli Yager, who was buying flowers, said she appreciated the effort.
“This is such a good thing,” she said.
