Basin Sounders win second-straight title

LACEY – The Basin Sounders 2009 Girls won their second-straight state title at the 2023 Washington Cup last weekend, coming out on top of the U14 Bronze division. The team, coached by Madeline Wallace Roellich, is the first Basin Sounders team to win two-straight Washington Cups.
The Sounders first earned 1-0 and 2-1 wins over Mt. Rainier and ISC Gunners, respectively, to advance to the semifinals against Seattle Celtic, where the Sounders won 2-0. In the finals, the Sounders defeated J&S Futbol Academy from Quincy.
The Washington Cup is part of the Washington Premier League, and provides over 6,000 players from across the Pacific Northwest the opportunity to compete against each other, according to the WPL website.
