I have deep North Idaho roots and graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree with a creative writing emphasis with a minor in film. I worked at at the Bonner County Daily Bee before coming to work at the Bonners Ferry Herald in August 2021. ST. MARIES — Badger girls softball has been busy competing against region teams seeing some success.
On Tuesday, the Badgers fell to the St. Maries Lumberjacks 12-0.

BONNERS FERRY — Sophomore Marissa Needs struck out eight and pitched a three-hit shutout as the visiting Tigers beat the Badgers in the Intermountain League finale.
She was two outs away from a no-hitter in the game, called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
“She pitched great; her changeup was working really well,” Timberlake coach Casi Lupinacci said.
Acacia Pecor, Timberlake’s No. 1 pitcher, played third on Monday and went 3 for 3 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored.
Timberlake and Bonners (3-12) then meet up in a best-of-3 series next week for the 3A District 1 title, with all games at Timberlake, starting at 5 p.m. Game 1 is Monday, Game 2 is Wednesday and Game 3, if necessary, is Thursday.

BONNERS FERRY —- The Badger went 1-1 against Kellogg on Friday in a double header.
In Game 1 the Badgers matched the Wildcats run for run, making it into the ninth inning.
Starting the ninth, the umpires put a runner on second, Kyra Sumpter for the Badgers. Ava Frederickson went up to bat.
Kyra stole third and on the next pitch Ava bunted fright in front of home plate. Krya than scored a run making it 5-4.
Taylor Sumpter, for Bonners Ferry struck out 18 batters.
In Game 2, the Badger led by the fifth 11-5, but had issues at the mound, resulting in Kellogg scoring six runs and tying the game.
The Badgers were held scoreless in the sixth and the Wildcats brought in five more runs making it 16-11.
Kaylee Sumpter broke through the hitting slump, and the Badgers scored two more runs, but fell short 16-13.
