MOSCOW — Raiston Ellwood and Roan Reilly drove in three runs each for the Hawks, who scored nine runs in the top of the first inning, then held on late to beat the Bears in the first game of an Inland Empire League doubleheader at the Moscow School District Community Playfields.

“I’m really proud of the way we came out and swung the bats in that first inning,” Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. “Everyone was squaring the ball up nicely. It was also nice to see us close the door after a lead. Moscow did a good job of inching back into the game, but we came up with some insurance runs in the later innings and Jace (Cooksey) did a great job coming in to seal it for us on the mound.”

Moscow won the nightcap to get the split.
