Maria 'Rosalie' Mason (Martinez), 82
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 year, 8 months AGO
Rosalie (Rose) was born May 9, 1940, to Agapito (Pete) Martinez and Irene Martinez (Espinoza) in Fort Sumter, N.M., and entered Heaven's gates peacefully in her sleep on the quiet morning of March 10, 2023.
Rose lived a very loving and fulfilling life with her husband of 65 years, Loren Carl Mason. Together, they traveled the country, raised a family, loved each other fiercely and always followed the Lord. Rose was the type of woman who was a mother to all who knew her. The generosity she had knew no bounds and the love she radiated was felt by everyone who came into her presence. She had three boys, Loren C. Mason Jr., Brian K. Mason and Robert S. Mason, and raised them in Hayden, Idaho, where they settled down after Loren left the Air Force. Her husband and her children truly were the light of her life and her heart only grew with every grandchild and great-grandchild she had the pleasure of meeting on this earth. Making sure to never leave home without looking her best, Rose loved shopping. Sometimes for herself, but mostly for those she loved. She got so much joy seeing those around her happy and smiling. She had a passion for gardening and for many years, maintained a massive backyard garden that spanned over 40 feet that she enjoyed with many friends and family over the years. Rose's smile and love are missed by everyone who knew her, but her legacy of love and light will continue on for generations to come.
Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents Agapito and Irene, sisters Mary Francis Durnford and Patricia Henson, son Loren C. Mason Jr. and sister-in-law Phyllis Mason.
She is survived by her husband Loren Carl Mason, sons Brian Mason and Robert Mason and his wife, Kate, daughter-in-law Aurel Mason, brother-in-law Marvin Mason and his wife, Rhonda, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of a formal service, there will be a memorial/gathering at McIntire Family Park in Hayden on Government Way on Sunday, May 14, at 2 p.m.
