Montana man injured in Canfield Mountain dirt bike crash

A Columbia Falls, Mont., man sustained nonlife-threatening injuries Wednesday in a dirt bike crash on Canfield Mountain in Coeur d’Alene.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office patrol and backcountry deputies, along with Coeur d’Alene Fire and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue, responded around 2 p.m. to the Nettleton Gulch trailhead to a report of the crash.
Thomas Trefney, an adult whose age was not provided in a news release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, was rescued from the crash site and transported by ground ambulance around 4 p.m., the release said.
Because the crash site was 1.5 miles from the trailhead, responders used KCSO dirt bikes and walked in on foot to bring necessary medical gear.
