The Montana State Class C golf tournament got underway Tuesday (May 16-17) with a pair of golfers from both St. Regis and Superior heading to the state finals in Great Falls after qualifying this past week at the Western Division tournament in Bozeman.

Heading to Great Falls representing Superior will be senior Carter McLees, who has now qualified for the state championships three times. He lost one of those years as a result of the co-vid upheaval and will be looking for a high finish after shooting a 92 in Bozeman.

McLees will be joined by freshman golfer Phin Cataldo, who also carded a 92 to advance to the finals. Superior golf coach Seth Kuhl said the team planned to leave early yesterday (Monday, May 15) on their journey to Great Falls.

St. Regis will be represented by a larger delegation as they qualified two individuals and the boys team for the state finals.

Jack Connolly advanced via his fifth place finish in Bozeman, while Dillon Thomas qualified via his 25th place showing in the divisional round.

The St. Regis team will also advance thanks to their fifth place showing in Bozeman. Joining Connolly and Thomas for the Tigers will be juniors John Pruitt and Kaleb Park.

The Lady Tigers lone golfer, senior Macy Hill did not qualify for the state finals.
