Sunshine and classic rides: it's the perfect combination as Lost in the '50s kicks off summer with the annual parade Friday.

The car parade begins at 6 p.m. with hundreds of classic and vintage cars staging at Sandpoint High School before making their way down Church Street, turning left onto First Avenue and then west on Cedar.

Immediately following the parade, a street dance will be held on Main Street between Second and Third avenues. The dance is being dedicated to longtime DJ "Bashful Dan" Young. Also being held Friday is the first of two shows at the Bonner County Fairgrounds from 7 to 10 p.m.

Performing at Friday's show will be Jay Siegel's The Tokens, best known for the chart-topping "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in 1961. Also performing is La La Brooks, the original lead singer of The Crystals and was the voice on the band's biggest hits "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Then He Kissed Me."

The fun continues Saturday with the car show taking over downtown Sandpoint, starting at 9:30 a.m. and continuing to 4 p.m.

On Saturday, Jay and the Americans will take to the Lost in the '50s stage for the second of two nights of great music.

“House band” Rocky and the Rollers will be performing at both shows.
