Just one point in a whole tennis match.
That was the difference between second place and third place at the 2023 Western Divisional BC tennis tournament this past weekend in Bigfork.
That meant the area’s only high school tennis team, the Superior Bobcats, finished third in the Bigfork tournament with five Lady Bobcats heading to the Montana State BC championships this weekend in Great Falls.
Number one singles player Brooke Bibler finished second in the individual standings after losing a hard fought, grueling two-hour match for the singles title.
She will be joined at state by teammates Ireland Neinrich and Olivia Greuter, who finished third in the doubles competition.
Also qualifying from Superior is the doubles team of Perri Jasper and Maddy Drey.
The team’s year-long number one singles player, junior Lani Crabb, was sidelined earlier last month by a season long knee injury. She is expected back for next year’s team, according to head coach Angie Hopwood.
No actual scores or team scores were immediately available. Play in Missoula begins this Thursday, May 25 and runs through Friday at two sites in Great Falls.
