Colleen "Cokie" Garrett

Colleen Garrett, lovingly known as Cokie, took her final bow. Oct. 13, 2023, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Born on May 8, 1945, in St. Maries, Idaho, this cowgirl has saddled up for her last rodeo.

Cokie had a heart as big as the Wild West and was the ultimate grandma to Kris, Kate, Drew and Ruby. Best aunt to Ben Oles and Tina Garrett. Wrangling love, laughter and joy was her specialty, and she even shared a birthday with her "second" daughter, Rena. When she wasn't belting out karaoke hits with her trail partner, daughter Tain, Cokie was beaming with pride for her son, Reid, a bona fide Marine hero. Oorah!

Survived by her son, Reid Houck of Ramona, Calif., along with his trusty sidekick, Vanessa, and their buckaroos, Liam and Ari. Daughter Tain Schroeder, her partner-in-crime, Rick, and their posse of grandkids, David Lund, Jeff Schroeder, and Cristal Telford, and let's not forget the whole corral of other grandkids who adored her.

Cokie is now reunited with her father, Marvin Garrett, mother Eilleen Thayer, sons Shain Barrett and Robert Houck, grandson Cameron Boisseranc, and her cowboy brothers, Larry and Jack Garrett. Along with bestie Sharon Amos, they're probably swapping tall tales and ropin' the stars up yonder.

The good folks at Bell Tower in Post Falls wrangled the funeral arrangements. A special Thank You to all the staff at Hospice House, what a blessing.

A rip-roaring shindig will be arranged to honor her May 4, 2024.

Happy trails Mom!
