A Kalispell woman arrested after allegedly breaking a glass vase on her husband’s head earlier this year must now undergo anger management and pay restitution.

Natalie Kay Heser, 55, initially faced a felony assault with a weapon charge following the Jan. 29 disturbance on the 800 block of East Washington Street. Pleading not guilty at her arraignment in Flathead County District Court, Heser later struck a deal with prosecutors.

In exchange for a plea change, prosecutors agreed to amend the felony charge to one misdemeanor count of partner or family member assault and recommend she receive a one-year suspended sentence as well as undergo anger management counseling. Heser entered a no contest plea to the misdemeanor before Judge Danni Coffman on Sept. 7.

Coffman stuck to the terms of the deal at Heser’s Oct. 19 sentencing, giving her one year, suspended, in the county jail and ordering her to undergo 40 hours of anger management treatment. Coffman also directed Heser to pay $1,538.63 in restitution and gave her credit for four days of time served.

Kalispell Police officers arrived at Heser’s East Washington Street home about 9:35 p.m. at her husband’s request after she had fled, court documents said. He told officers she arrived home “highly intoxicated” that night and when he asked about her condition, she began yelling, court documents alleged.

She then picked up the vase and allegedly threw it at his head. Sporting a bloody cut to the head when officers arrived, the victim later received 12 stitches, court documents said.

When officers tracked Heser down, she allegedly denied any involvement in the assault. They described her as “extremely intoxicated and unable to speak in full sentences,” according to court documents.
