Dozens compete in Libby's Ninth Annual Turkey Dash
HANNAH CHUMLEY | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year, 4 months AGO
The Ninth Annual Turkey Dash at J. Neils Park saw 50 participants on Saturday, Nov. 18.
This 5k fun run and 2.5K walk raised money for two local non-profits.
This year the proceeds will be split between the Libby Food Pantry (www.facebook.com/people/Libby-Food-Pantry/100068333586720/) and the Libby Video Club (www.libbyvideoclub.com).
The food pantry serves hundreds of area residents and is open each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The video club broadcasts over the air TV to Libby. It provides television channels to Libby that can be picked up on an antenna for those who have a line of sight to our translator station on Sheldon Mountain. It does not make videos or rent movies.
Event coordinator Dani Gordon said, "It's a way to get the community together and support local organizations."
There were categories for 12-and-under and 13-and-older in each event.
The youngest runner was 3 years old while the oldest was 90.
Community members that participated this year put on a good run with lots of fun with some wearing fun hats and costumes to keep spirits up while contestants completed their run.
All participants received an award, ranging from socks to a framed picture to a meal for two at the Venture Inn.
