On Nov. 6, 2023, Gerald Duane Davis, 68, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away suddenly. Gerald (aka Homer), was born in Pratt, Kan., on Sept. 12, 1955, to Melvin and Barbara Davis. He was the youngest of two sons.

Homer graduated from Skyline High School in 1973. He served in the Air Force, where he was stationed in Idaho, and fell in love with the mountains. Homer and his wife of 48 years met while both worked at Sonic Drive-In. Homer had just turned 16 and could legally drive with someone else in the car. Althea was 15 when he asked her to go to a football game with him. They married in Pratt, Kan., on March 1, 1975.

After serving in the Air Force, Homer and Althea returned to Kansas but continued to think about living in the Pacific Northwest. While expecting their first child, Klarissa, the decision was made to move back following her birth in Wichita, Kansas, settling in Salt Lake City, where Sarah and Jason were born. Following SLC, they lived in Beaverton, Ore., finally settling on Hudlow Mountain in Hayden, Idaho. A property he loved.

He enjoyed golf, snow skiing and spending time with friends. Upon retirement, he enjoyed traveling in Central America, visiting Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Guatemala and Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Barbara Davis, and brother Terry.

Services will be held at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local animal shelter, a cause he felt strongly about.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church, 5350 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with Military Honors.
