Washington State volleyball

Ryan, a 6-foot-5 opposite hitter from Lakeland High, was named an honorable mention to the all-Pac-12 Conference team, announced Wednesday. It is the third career award after being named all-freshman in 2021 and honorable mention in 2022. Ryan averaged 2.34 kills per set, hitting at .285%. She had 13 matches with double-digit kills, six against Top 25 teams. Washington State (24-7) opens the NCAA Tournament on Friday against Grand Canyon in Pullman (7 p.m., ESPN+).

Lewis-Clark State cross country

Shell, a senior from Coeur d'Alene High, finished 39th to earn All-American honors at the NAIA Championships on Nov. 17 in Vancouver, Wash.

Anna Peters

Utah cross country

Peters, a freshman from Post Falls High, finished 33rd in the NCAA Championships in 20 minutes, 4.2 seconds on Nov. 18 in Earlysville, Va. Peters was the top American-born freshman to earn All-America honors and her time was the fifth-fastest by a woman at Utah since the championships was moved to 6K.

• ACADEMIC AWARDS

College of Idaho's Janae Rayborn, a 5-9 outside hitter from Lake City High and North Idaho College, and Lewis-Clark State's Kenzie Dean, a 5-4 graduate student libero from Timberlake High, were named to the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete team, announced recently. To be eligible, a player must be a sophomore or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Also honored were Coeur d'Alene High product Erika Skinlov (graduate senior) and Darby McDevitt (senior) of Lakeland High for Eastern Oregon women's soccer
