POST FALLS — Better Together Animal Alliance, Post Falls Animal Shelter and Petco Love will host a free microchip and vaccination clinic for pets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Oct. 14 at the Post Falls shelter, 1725 E. Polston Ave., Post Falls.

Implanted microchips can serve as an important security measure to help ensure pets are returned home, even with no collar or tag. Veterinarians, shelters and animal control professionals are able to scan these chips and find each pet’s registered owner.

Trained staff and volunteers will be on site during the clinic to help pet owners register current information as part of the microchipping process and facilitate pet vaccinations.

The no-cost vaccines are made possible through Petco Love's new national vaccination initiative, which is providing 1 million more free pet vaccines for family pets in need through existing animal welfare partners, including Better Together Animal Alliance.

Free cat and dog food will be available for those in need.

All microchips are being provided through a grant from the ASPCA Northern Tier Shelter Initiative.

Those planning to attend the clinic must have dogs on leashes at all times and cats must be in carriers. Services are limited to the first 150 participants.
