Hockey program attracts new players to the sport

The Fall Into Hockey program for 6-12 year old girls wrapped up last week at the Stumptown Ice Den with a session of skills and drills followed by a 3 v 3 fun tournament. The student coaches then put on a showcase game for the younger players.

Fall Into Hockey meets twice a week for the month of September. The goal of the preseason program is to introduce girls to hockey, one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and to attract more participation in girls hockey statewide.

Adult and teen female coaches and players are also role models who help create a fun environment that encourages the younger girls to continue playing hockey.
