How about them Tigers? They just keep rolling along, their latest victim in Idaho 8-man football the Lakeside Tigers who fought hard but still lost to the St. Regis-Mullan, Idaho co-opers 54-32 in a game played in Plummer, Idaho.
The Tigers, who moved to 5-0 on the season with the win, got off to a 14-8 lead at the end of what head coach Jesse Allan called a physical ballgame.
St. Regis-Mullan showed they too are pretty tough, overcoming the rugged Lakeside front line and building a 32-14 lead at the half.
The Knights gave the league leading Tigers a good battle, but found themselves deeper in the hole after three quarters of play, trailing St. Regis-Mullan 46-20.
They outscored the Tigers 12-6 in the final quarter of play, but it was not enough to overcome the early game deficit.
St. Regis-Mullan got a breakout game from senior running back/defensive back Kaleb Park, who rushed for a season high 162 yards on 10 carries. He also had four rushing touchdowns, also a season high.
Senior running back/linebacker John Pruitt, a St. Regis student, had another outstanding game for the Tigers, running for 162 yards on 11 carries, with three touchdowns. He also hauled in four passes for a total of 79 yards.
Pruitt has rushed for more than 100 yards in all five of the team’s games so far this season.
And freshman quarterback Conner Lulis had yet another solid game for the Tigers, completing nine of 11 passes for 169 yards and one touchdown. He also played a turnover free game.
Also St. Regis-Mullan wide-out Appaiah also had a good game catching the ball, pulling in four receptions for 90 yards.
Next up for the Tigers is a game this Saturday afternoon in St. Regis at 1 p.m. Mountain time. The co-opers will face Shelby, MT in what is the St. Regis Homecoming game.
