PASCO, Wash. — Sophomore Abigail Beaton was already comfortable playing in Pasco as a graduate of Chiawana High.
On Wednesday, her teammates — after a quick adjustment — followed right behind.
Beaton had 10 kills and two digs for the Cardinals in a 25-24, 25-21, 26-24 Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Columbia Basin Hawks on Wednesday.
“We lost in five down here last year, so I think the girls remembered that,” said NIC coach Brittany Tilleman, whose team has won 13 straight. “Playing in their gym, it’s an adjustment with all the natural light and a lot going on around. It took a minute, but the girls were ready to play and did a good job of that.”
Sophomore Brooke Minden had 15 digs, freshman Morgan Claus eight kills and nine digs, freshman Karolyne Wolfgramm 33 assists and nine digs and sophomore Rylee Hartwig six kills and four digs for NIC (19-1, 7-0 NWAC), which hosts Treasure Valley next Wednesday.
Columbia Basin is 11-8, 3-3.

COEUR d'ALENE — Dominic Sanchez scored in the 50th minute for the Timberwolves in a Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Cardinals at Eisenwinter Field.
"The guys play and work hard," NIC coach Brad Williams said. "And I love them for all the hard work they do. We're a work in progress and the blue collar mentality of the team is something I want to see. In terms of getting chances and putting the ball in the net, we're a work in progress. But defensively, we're hard to play against."
