RITZVILLE — A bomb threat closed down Lind-Ritzville High School on Thursday, according to a statement from the Ritzville Police Department.
LRHS staff received an email advising that a bomb had been left in the school, according to the statement. Staff evacuated the students and then, assisted by RPD, Adams County Sheriff's deputies, Ritzville Fire Department, Ritzville Public Works and two bomb detection canine teams from Fairchild Air Force Base, checked the school thoroughly for suspicious packages. No suspicious items were found.
The origin of the email remains under investigation, the statement said. Officers from Fairchild advised that they had been called to two schools in the Davenport area, two schools in the Colfax-Palouse area, and one school in the Spokane Valley within the past few weeks regarding the same type of bomb threats received through email.
Normal school operations were expected to resume Monday, according to an announcement from the Lind-Ritzville School District.
