Lakeland 3, Sandpoint 1

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint fell to conference foe Lakeland, 3-1 (20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 11-25) in their regular season finale at Les Rogers Court on Tuesday.

Seniors Haley Swaim and Vivian Platte had solid performances Tuesday. Platte recorded a team-high 12 kills while Swaim contributed 27 assists. Audrey Petruso led the team defensively with 14 digs. Petruso and Gretta Beck had three aces behind the service line. Aubree Lane also added 10 kills and two blocks for Sandpoint.

Sandpoint (4-8, 3-5), the No. 2 seed, will play host to third-seeded Moscow next Tuesday in the loser-out first round of the 4A Region 1 tournament. The winner plays at Lakeland next Thursday at 6 p.m. in the championship match for the region’s lone berth to state.

Priest River 3, Kellogg 2

PRIEST RIVER — After winning the first two sets Friday, the Spartans found themselves in a bit of trouble, but rallied to defeat Kellogg, 3-2 (26-24, 25-21, 7-25, 14-25, 16-14) on Tuesday at home.

It was a huge win for Priest River, and head coach Katlyn Ward was nothing short of excited.

“Our girls stepped up to fill spots they don’t usually play,” Ward said. “We wanted this win and got it. I’m proud of these girls.”

Offensively, Helena White and Desi Humprhey racked up 12 kills each. Jayda Storro and Paityn Yount both had four aces; Storro also led the team with 24 assists Tuesday. On defense, Aleigha Jensen added two blocks, Humphrey had one.

The win moves Priest River ahead of Orofino in the 2A Central Idaho standings. The Spartans take on Orofino Thursday at home in an important conference matchup that will potentially determine seeding for the district playoffs.

Genesis Prep 3, Clark Fork 2

POST FALLS — It has been a marquee matchup all season, but Clark Fork was defeated by Genesis Prep again Tuesday, 3-2 (8-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 12-15) after a hard-fought five sets.

“It was good to play such a close match headed into the postseason,” head coach Lyndise Kiebert-Carey said. “Our girls fought hard but just couldn’t put the ball away during key rallies.”

Eloise Shelton stuffed the stat sheet with seven kills, 16 digs, and four aces, proving she is one the Wampus Cats’ most versatile players. Lilly Reuter posted a team-high 18 assists on the night. Amari Printz-Hay had four blocks and 17 digs for Clark Fork.

Clark Fork (7-9) will play Kootenai for their regular season finale Thursday at home at 7:30 p.m. Shelton, Reuter, Printz-Hay and Farrah Boehme, who are all seniors, will be honored before tonight’s varsity match.
