I have deep North Idaho roots and graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree with a creative writing emphasis with a minor in film. I worked at at the Bonner County Daily Bee before coming to work at the Bonners Ferry Herald in August 2021. I enjoy writing for the paper that my great-grandfather read and covering the same small town community that is still alive today. I cover all things Badger sports, local politics and government, community news, business, outdoors and appear on the 7Bee podcast for the Herald's update. When I'm not working I can be found reading a good book and sipping tea, knitting or attempting to sign opera. | October 12, 2023 1:00 AM

After a week-long race hiatus, Badger Cross Country competed twice in three days at Ben Castro Invitational at Pinehurst on Oct. 5 and Inland Empire Challenge LCSC XC Cross Oct. 7, with Sydney Beckle taking first again in a consecutive race, with her best time ever.

Beckle took first at Pinehurst with a time of 21:03, followed by fellow Bonners Ferry runner Matisyn Stiern in second at 22:24.

The Badger boys took fourth overall with Cole Philips taking fifth at 18:06, his best time ever of the season. Fellow Badger Micah Thomson taking 10th at 18:38.

Despite competing two days prior, many Badgers earned their second best time of the season, biting at the heels of the new personal records they earned earlier this week.

Cole Phillips ran a 18:19, just behind hsi PR of 18:06. Jack Woods also ran his season best at 20:43, just .04 faster than his time at the Ivan Benson race nearly two weeks earlier.

For the girls only Beckel and Stiern ran in the varsity race, both ran a similar pace to Pinehurst race, but neither earned at PR.
