MISSOULA — Kobe Dorcheus ran for three touchdowns, Cohen Kastelitz caught two scoring passes and Glacier pulled away from a 14-14 tie to beat Missoula Big Sky 56-21 in Western AA football Thursday.
Jackson Presley threw for 386 yards and two scores while the Wolfpack improved to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in conference games. Big Sky (3-5, 2-4 in league) was stubborn early, marching for a score on the game’s first possession and then getting an 83-yard touchdown run from Joey Sandberg to knot the score at 14-all early in the second quarter.
In between, Kash Goicoechea had a 98-yard kickoff return for Glacier, the first of two TDs for him, and Bridger Smith hauled in a 67-yard touchdown throw from Presley.
“It was a great game to start but we were able to put together some drives to pull away,” Glacier coach Grady Bennett said. “Jackson Presley was fantastic tonight. Jackson to Kastelitz was the big hookup.”
Presley completed 15 of 23 passes, and Kastelitz hauled in six of those throws for 192 yards. Smith picked up another 122 yards on his four catches.
After Sandberg’s long run — he rumbled for 133 yards and two touchdowns — Glacier went up for good, 21-14, on Dorcheus’ 10-yard burst at 9:25 of the second quarter.
That started a burst of 42 straight points by the Pack, including Dorcheus scoring runs of 5 and 2 yards. He finished with 90 yards on 11 carries.
Goicoechea added 63 yards on six carries, including an 8-yard TD that made it 56-14 in the fourth quarter.
“The offensive line again was outstanding,” Bennett said. “Jackson didn’t get touched all night. Clean pocket, like, not even close.”
Kastelitz had touchdowns covering 57 and 22 yards, the latter on a pass from Rhett Measure. Glacier concludes its regular season with a Thursday home game against Missoula Sentinel, at Legends Stadium. The Pack can earn a first-round bye into the AA playoffs with a victory.
“Just a good road win, setting us up for our last home game and Senior Night,” Bennett said. “We control our own destiny now. It’s a good position to be in.”
