PREP VOLLEYBALL: Clark Fork downs Kootenai on senior night

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. Clark Fork 3, Kootenai 0
CLARK FORK — The Wampus Cats took care of Kootenai on Thursday with a commanding 3-0 (25-8, 25-5, 25-14) win at home on senior night.
Senior Lilly Reuter led the Wampus Cats with a perfect serving night piling up 10 aces to go along with 18 assists. Fellow seniors Eloise Shelton and Amari Printz-Hay also played a big role in Thursday’s victory. Shelton posted a team-high seven kills while Printz-Hay had four aces and two blocks.
“The girls came into senior night with the mentality that we would play our game and try out new plays,” head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. “We were able to work every player into the rotation and give our bench some valuable minutes. Our crowd was really energized which was great to see.”
Kiebert-Carey was a bit emotional regarding the fact it was the last home game for this year’s seniors.
“I am going to miss these seniors,” Kiebert-Carey said. “I’ve been coaching Eloise and Lilly since junior high, which I can’t believe. Time flies when you’re having fun.”
Clark Fork (8-9) will play Kootenai again in the 1AD2 North Star District Championship, which will be held Friday, Oct. 20, at North Idaho College. The winner advances to a state championship play-in match.

Orofino 3, Priest River 2
PRIEST RIVER — Priest River played their eighth five-set match of the season Thursday at home, this time falling to Orofino, 3-2 (25-23, 11-25, 25-17, 23-25, 11-15) in 2A Central Idaho play.
“It was a tough night; we have had three games in the last four days,” head coach Katlyn Ward said. “We are off to our fourth game in five days today in Grangeville. We are tired and missing our middle hitter (Allyson Barton), but these girls have a lot more fight”
Helena White had 16 kills again on Thursday to lead the Spartans. Jayda Storro racked up three aces and 25 assists. On defense, Toni Marinello had eight digs while Raygn Turner and Aleigha Jensen added three blocks each.
Priest River (6-6, 2-5) faced Grangeville on Friday. Results and recap will be published at a later date.
