GOOKIN: Observations from a luncheon attendee
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 2 months AGO
I was one of the 100+ lucky people in attendance at the KCRWF luncheon on Oct. 5, where eight candidates running for positions in the upcoming local elections, accepted an invitation to speak. Yes, eight candidates. While I truly appreciate all of the candidates taking advantage of the invitation to speak, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dan Gookin in particular.
Given his perpetual victimhood, he was incredibly brave to speak in front of a room full of (mostly) middle-aged women whom apparently threatened his safety (referring to his remark in this publication on Oct. 7, feeling the need for armed security at a future event). His response to questions regarding “rants” he posted on his YouTube videos was exactly what one would expect of an antagonistic narcissist. Akin to a tantrum throwing toddler, Mr. Gookin stomped out of the room whining about his not being welcome. But alas, Mr. Gookin got exactly what he wanted.
The juvenile outburst and departure earned him more press coverage than all of the other candidates combined. Perhaps what he did not count on though, is the negative impact he left behind. His behavior changed the minds of several women in attendance who had intended to vote for him and you can bet they’ll share what they witnessed.
