PREP SOCCER: Coeur d'Alene boys fall short of state bid

LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene, the runner-up in the 5A Inland Empire League and Region 1 tournament, fell to the Eagle Mustangs 3-1 in a state 5A play-in match on Saturday at Walker Field, ending the season 10-5.

Senior midfielder Elijah Raybell scored on a penalty kick in the 40th minute for Coeur d’Alene, which claimed the consolation title at state in 2022 after winning the district title.

Junior midfielder Lucas Boockholdt scored two first half goals for Eagle (11-5-3), which advances to state at Eagle High starting Thursday.

LEWISTON — The Badgers, the 3A District 1-2 runner-up, fell to the Grizzlies in a state play-in match at Walker Field.

Bonners Ferry finished 9-8.

Fruitland (14-3-2) advances to state starting on Thursday at Vallivue High.

Lewiston 0

LEWISTON — The Bengals, who were upset by third-seeded Lake City in the regional championship match, fell to the Patriots of Boise in a state play-in match at Walker Field.

Lewiston finished 11-5-3.

Centennial (6-9-3), last year's state runner-up, advances to state starting Thursday at Rocky Mountain High in Meridian.
