Unbeaten Florence-Carlton proved to be an unwelcome guest Friday night in Thompson Falls as they downed the home town Blue Hawks 43-12 in a Western B 11-player football game.
The Falcons came to T Falls with a 7-0 overall record and a 4-0 conference mark.
They left one game better in both categories with the convincing win over the Blue Hawks.
The visitors scored first in the opening quarter when Ethan Alexander hauled in a 15-yard scoring pass from Mason Arlington, that, when coupled with the two-point after touchdown conversion, put the Falcons up 8-0.
A short time later, Arlington hooked up with Issac Bates on a six-yard scoring strike. The PAT kick was good, giving the visitors a 15-0 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff, T Falls senior Nick Tessier returned the ball 85 yards for a touchdown. The PAT try failed, leaving Florence-Carlton with a 15-6 lead as time expired in the opening quarter.
The Falcons scored again in the opening minutes of the second quarter when Alexander plowed into the end zone from two yards out, capping a FC drive. The PAT kick was good, giving the Falcons a 22-6 lead.
Before the second quarter and first half came to an end, Arlington found Tyler Abbot with a 25 TD throw. The kick was good and at halftime, the Falcons were in the lead 29-6.
Florence-Carlton tacked on three more touchdowns in the third quarter, the first via a 45-yard pass from Arlington to Bridger Alexander. A successful PAT kick booster the Falcons to a 36-6 lead. Later in the third quarter, Arlington scored on a 13-yard run and the kick was again good, boosting FC to a 43-6 lead.
Thompson Falls scored in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard pass from Tessier to quarterback Bryson LeCoure, cutting the Falcons’ led to 43-12, but it was too little, too late.
For the game, Florence-Carlton amassed 397 yards of total offense while holding the Blue Hawks to 202 total yards. FC outgained T Falls in passing yardage, 211-143, and rushing yards, 186-59.
LeCoure had 143 yards on 13-22 passing, with one TD. He was also the leading rusher for the Blue Hawks, picking up 42 yards on 12 carries.
On defense, senior Max Hannum had two tackles and five assists, along with three QB sacks to lead the Blue Hawks.
Thompson Falls closes out its regular season schedule with a road trip to Whitehall this Friday.
