Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred in Bonner County early Thursday morning.

ISP said a 39-year-old Coeur d’Alene man was northbound on Highway 41 near milepost 20 when he left the road in his white 2016 Ford 150 pickup. The pickup entered the northbound ditch, went left of center and entered the southbound lane, striking a southbound Kenworth log truck head-on.

The Coeur d’Alene resident was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, police said in a news release. He died at the scene.

The driver of the log truck, a 48-year-old man from Chewelah, Wash., was not injured in the crash.

Highway 41 was blocked for about four hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office, Bonner County EMS and Spirit Lake EMS.
