COEUR d’ALENE — Coeur d’Alene Airport has a director.

Kootenai County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Gaston Patterson to the position, permanently. Patterson had been the interim airport director since early July.

“I have been very pleased with his interim performance and I would recommend that we make this a permanent appointment,” Commissioner Leslie Duncan said Tuesday.

Commissioners Bill Brooks and Bruce Mattare agreed.

“He’s done a fantastic job and I’m looking forward to more great things from him in the future,” Mattare said.

Patterson worked for Kootenai County in 2017 and returned to the county in July 2022, working as the airport operations supervisor/duty manager.

The previous airport director, Steven Kjergaard, resigned in February.
