It was a split-decision kind of week for the Noxon volleyball team.

They began the week last Thursday with a quick and easy 3-0 sweep of winless Two Eagle River in Noxon.

The concluded the two match week with a 3-1 loss to traditional powerhouse Drummond, also on the Lady Devils home court.

Against the visiting Lady Eagles, Noxon jumped out to a quick early lead, steadily pulling away from Two Eagle River in the first set on their way to a 25-9 win and a 1-0 match lead.

They turned up the juice in the second set and crushed the Lady Eagles 25-4 to assume a commanding 2-0 match advantage. Noxon put the match away with a 25-10 third set win for a 3-0 match sweep. The win boosted their season record to 9-3 and their Western 14C conference mark to 6-3, good for second place in the league behind regular season champion Charlo.

Saturday afternoon, Noxon entertained Drummond and had a tougher time with the tall and talented Lady Trojans.

Noxon came out strong in the first set, holding onto a narrow lead most of the way. Drummond tied the score at 22-22 but Noxon was able to score the next three points to take a 25-22 opening set win and a 1-0 match lead.

In set number two, Drummond took an early lead and never looked back en route to a 25-10 win that squared the match at 1-1.

The Trojans did the same in the pivotal third set, grabbing an early lead and expanding it as the set progressed. They captured the third set 25-16 and in doing so took a 2-1 match lead.

The fourth and deciding set was more of the same with the Lady Trojans getting an early lead and slowly building it on their way to a 25-12 set four win that secured the 3-1 match victory.

Drummond is now 11-2 overall on the year and atop the 13C standing with a 6-0 record. Noxon finished the regular season 9-4 and second in the 14C standings heading into the 14C District tournament this weekend in Hot Springs.
