IDAHO LEGISLATORS: Are doing what is right

Ethel Steinmetz Marmont’s article of Oct. 21 regarding abortion is stating that women’s reproductive rights are at risk, suffering inequality and is a form of violence against women.

Perhaps Ethel should be aware that according to Idaho Law, Title 18, Chapter 6, there are exceptions to abortion bans which include rape, incest or maternal health. Additional exceptions are listed when the preservation of the life of a woman is at risk or delivery of a fetus that is unable to survive. This would include a fetus without part of its brain, skull, kidneys or head as Ethel vividly describes.

For years women used abortion as an acceptable form of contraceptives. They took the “easy way out.” We, the people, are doing what is right by stopping this abhorrent murder of a baby. Ethel states the pro-choice views are a majority of Idaho’s voters. Research will tell you it is 49%. Rounding up in a case like this is not acceptable.

Those who shout “My body…My Choice” have no regard for human life and should be thankful their mothers chose to give birth. Your decision not to practice prevention is not a baby’s choice. There are many ways to prevent pregnancy.

We don’t need to hear a quote from Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Instead we should be shouting “take their feet off our baby’s neck.” It is time to push back for reproductive rights in the proper sense which does not include abortion. Our legislators are doing exactly that.
